Problems starting server: Server exited immediately after startup

Question:

When I attempt to start a stream, Centova Cast displays:

Server could not be started: Server exited immediately after startup

Answer:

This error indicates that Centova Cast was able to execute your streaming server software (SHOUTcast DNAS, IceCast, etc.) however shortly after starting up, it exited unexpectedly.
