Overview

Centova Messenger is an ideal solution for businesses looking for a portable, easily maintanable XMPP instant messaging client, offering most of the functionality of standard desktop instant messengers. Centova Messenger is a completely web-based solution that requires absolutely no software or plugin installation in the user's web browser.

Packages Available

We currently offer three types of licenses for Centova Messenger - leased, owned, and Enterprise. Leased licenses are valid for one year, after which you will need to purchase another license. Owned licenses are valid forever. Enterprise licenses are also valid forever, and include additional features and support for enterprise deployments (some of which are outlined below).

System Requirements (Server)

Centova Messenger will operate on both Linux and Windows-based servers. The requirements include:

Other requirements:

Under Apache, mod_gzip must be disabled for the Centova virtual host.
PHP safe mode must be disabled.
ionCube Loader (included with Centova Messenger) is required**.
SSL is strongly recommended (but not required).

* Centova Messenger should theoretically run under any Linux distribution or UNIX-like OS (such as FreeBSD). Debian, Red Hat/CentOS, and Fedora are officially supported by Centova Technologies Inc.

** Centova Messenger uses ionCube encoding to protect and accelerate a small portion of its code. Only approximately 15% of the Centova Messenger source code is encoded. ionCube Loader is bundled with Centova Messenger, and in most cases, requires no installation or configuration under Linux (and only a minor change to php.ini under Windows).

Centova Messenger works with a wide variety of browsers, including:

For typical use, Centova Messenger requires no plug-ins or other additional software on the end-user's computer. However, if sound support is desired, the Macromedia Flash plug-in is required.
